Junior Fishing Day 2020
Anglers Alliance Tasmania and the Inland Fisheries Service are co-ordinating a free state wide Junior Angling Day on Sunday 18 October 2020 as part of National Gone Fishing Day.
An angling licence will not be required to fish in inland waters in Tasmania -- a great opportunity to grab a friend and try trout fishing. There will also be a number of junior angling venues across Tasmania stocked by AAT and run by local angling clubs for juniors 17 years of age and under -- this will give the kids a great chance to catch a wily trout.
Gone Fishing Day is a national event that was created to encourage people to get outdoors, drop a line, enjoy time with family and friends by or on the water, and hopefully catch a fish or two.
It is well known that getting outdoors is beneficial to both your physical and mental health, and all fishers can agree that there is no such thing as a bad days fishing when you’re surrounded by those close to you and the glorious areas fishing takes you. So why not have a day that recognises and promotes all of these things!
The freshwater Junior Anglers Day, run by local club volunteers, will be part of Gone Fishing Day and the four venues across the state are :
