PETER RICHARDS

1952-

Peter caught his first trout in the Hobart Rivulet at the age of four. As his interest in fishing grew, he joined the Northern Tasmanian Fishing Association (NTFA). During his time with the NTFA Peter served as Vice President and Secretary. Peter also became involved in other dedicated angling forums such as the Freshwater Angling Council of Tasmania (FACT), serving terms as both President and Vice President. Through his efforts, including his appearance before a Senate Inquiry into the matter, Peter was instrumental in the implementation of a ban being placed on the importation of raw salmon, thus preserving the disease-free status of Tasmanian trout. Peter was involved in the establishment of the Tasmanian Angling Museum and Hall of Fame Board. Peter served as Chairman of the Board and worked tirelessly to establish a visual record of the Tasmanian Trout fishery and those who have made a significant contribution towards its development and conservation, a passion that continues to this day.
